A guide, not a substitute for your induction. These are general good-practice notes. Always follow your induction and the Floor Management Team's directions for this machine.

Sheet metal folder & rolls

Medium risk Induction required

A combination sheet-metal machine folds crisp bends and rolls curves into flat sheet, for trays, brackets, ducting and curved panels.

  • Two-member rule
Don't work alone on this one
  • Before you start
Complete a sheet metal folder & rolls induction

Using it safely

General good practice for a sheet metal folder & rolls. Your induction covers the specifics for the machine at our shed.

  • Mind the sharp edgesCut sheet has edges like a blade. Wear gloves to handle it and deburr where you can.
  • Keep fingers out of the jawsSet the sheet, then keep hands clear of the folding beam and the rollers before you work the lever.
  • Within capacityStay within the machine's thickness and width rating. Forcing heavy gauge damages the tooling.
  • Steady, even pressureWork the beam or rolls smoothly and evenly for a clean, consistent bend.
  • Never work aloneThis is medium-risk gear, so at least one other inducted member must be in the workshop with you.
  • Unsure? Ask the Floor Management TeamAlways better to ask. They're happy to help and there's no silly question.

Before you start

An induction is required

Before using the sheet metal folder & rolls for the first time, you'll do a short, friendly hands-on induction with an experienced member. We'll walk you through setup, safe operation and how to stop safely, at your own pace.

Organise one with our Floor Management Team on any open day, or call the shed on 03 5750 1120. Already inducted? Remember the two-member rule still applies.
